I’m having one of those days when I have something to say and can’t quite find the words I need, and yet I feel I must say something because I made a commitment six years ago to have something to say in this space every morning.
The commitment is really important only to me. The rest of the world may note in passing that I didn’t say anything today, and some might wonder if I’m OK, but the world would keep turning and life would go on if I chose not to speak for one day and simply gathered my thoughts for another time.
What do I want to say? What am I trying to say? It’s all a variation on the two great commandments — Love God, love your neighbor as yourself — from which everything else flows.
I want to say all of that and not quite any of that.
And so I talk in circles and say what bears repeating so I can rest assured that I fulfilled my commitment to myself, and to you, for another morning.
Thanks for stopping by. Let’s do this again tomorrow.
