The internet failed here Saturday night, about three-quarters of the way through an episode of Star Trek: Discovery. Streaming is a lovely invention, but it’s rather dependent on an internet connection, don’t ya know.
Around midnight I started to turn in, and then I thought, Wait! I haven’t done a blog post for Sunday morning.
And then I thought, Wait! Is the internet still out? Well, of course it was. I would say something about my internet provider, but my mom always said if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all, so I will refrain from elaborating.
On the other hand, the provider did have it together enough to have a “Outage in your area” notice ready to roll when I tried to find out more information.
Sunday is the 1,129th day in my daily-posting streak, and I usually program the robot to post my fragments of thought or bursts of creativity at 3 a.m. Still, a day is 24 hours long, so the streak isn’t broken until just after 11:59 p.m.
Hopefully, when I wake in the morning the internet will have resumed its surveillance of my home and I can post this little fragment to maintain the streak.
UPDATE: Fortunately, the personal hotspot on my phone kicked back in this morning, so I can post this message in a bottle. The hotspot failed, too, for awhile last night.
(And yes, if I’d update the blog ahead of time, instead of just before bedtime, I’d save myself an occasional late night …)
