What I have learned

This year brings two significant personal anniversaries in increments of five years. It was April 15, 2015, when the switch threw itself and I began to write in a journal if not every day, then regularly. All at once it became a habit, and I felt “off” when I missed a day or two or especially three.

And then I resolved to try blogging at least a little something every day for three months, starting August 1, 2020. I reached the beginning of the fourth month, and I have not stopped yet.

I am a creative. In your own way, you are, too. Fun to me is scrawling words and telling stories and making music, and then sharing: “Look! Listen! I made this!” You are also creative, or at least you should be, to stay sane. God made us in His image, and He is the Big Kahuna of Creators — He made all this, didn’t He?

This is the day the Lord has made, and He has taken me to this morning, 72 years and four months and a few days after my mom delivered me into this world. What have I learned in all that time?

Get a good night’s sleep. Business before pleasure — and/or take pleasure in your business. Take care of the animals. Maintain your house and home. Above all, love your neighbors, and remember that everyone is your neighbor.

When I remember all this, I rejoice and am glad. I should write it all down and bookmark the page, so I remember more often.
