Stars don’t try to be stars

We develop this confusion when first we think that we could make money doing creative work. We start to work writing the Great American Novel or the Perfect Hit Song.

But the creative process is not work.

I play the guitar.

I play at the keyboard.

When it becomes work, the play diminishes.

So forget about working to win the lottery and just keep playing. That seems to be how wealthy artists do it.
