
“Just write,” someone whispers in my ear’s imagination — a Muse? my frustrated and fed-up Muse? “Write anything until you write something, and then rinse and repeat. Don’t look back — except to share some of it with the world — until you’re done. Then you can look back and say, ‘Hey, I did write something after all.’ It’s up to the world to decide if it’s immortal or will not last five minutes, but you know, we’re not immortal in any case. The best you can do is the best you can do until you can’t anymore, and you know what? You can still do it, so quit worrying and get on with it, will you? You’ll thank me in the end.
