I have just finished filling a 26th journal since 2015 and am about to embark on a 27th. This is the last entry in No. 26.
The new journal — I had three others waiting, but this one caught my eye — says “Be Still” on the cover and has Bible verses on the pages. I bought it on impulse and moved it to the front of the line
“Be still … and listen to the still, small voice.” “Be still, and know that He is God.” There is a message that I need to follow. For all my desire to take control of my life and set out along clear pathways that I can’t see yet, I need to pick up something that says “Be Still” every morning for a few months, to remember I’m not in control of so many things and that’s OK.
God has taken me this far along so many broken roads, detours, highways and byways, so it could not hurt to trust him the rest of the way. So, OK, Lord, here I am. I’m going to get real quiet and listen for directions — listen for what I need to know, listen for what you need to tell me.
What’s that? “Get up and clean your house, and let the poor dogs in from the cold”?
You got it, Lord. I’m getting to work now.
