Over at The Forty-Five blog Monday, quite a conversation broke out after Toirdhealbheach Beucail wrote about how the company that laid him off not long ago has faded into history: When he checked the website, he found a message that said, “Thank you for visiting the website for <Former Employer> (‘Company’), a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company formerly based in New Home. The Company is no longer operating.”
One of the messages? “… never give the company everything. Because sometimes – it happens to most of us anymore – all of your efforts and emotions and sweat will disappear without a trace,” TB said.
Right in the middle of the ensuing discussion, a commentator named Anonymous said:
“All we have in the end are those we love and those who love us.”
Yep.
They say no one says on their deathbed that they wish they had spent more time at the office. Nope, when faced with mortality, most of us look around at those we love and those who love us, and gather them close.
Don’t wait until mortality calls. Reach out to those you love and those who love you, and hold on with all your might.
