
I walked in dreams and missed the people met over the years who aren’t there anymore for one reason or another, resting in peace or drifted away. I see their faces, hear their voices and remember how they chased away my loneliness.
“We all die alone,” some cynic said, but the truth is we all live alone, too. The tragic realization of adolescence is no one really knows and understands us. No one can — our thoughts and feelings are internal things that can’t be fully expressed in words, no matter how clever we are.
That’s why finding a soul mate is such a joyful thing, but even then, from time to time we disagree or misunderstand.
It’s a comfort to have a God who knows our heart even when we are not clear ourselves who we are or where we’re going. Our souls are fated to move about confined to these fragile earthly vessels, but everywhere we see signs of something bigger and older and wiser.
